Library Book Locations
I found the book I need in the catalog but am not sure where it is located in the library!
Main Library Stacks: This is the main circulating collection of the library and fully accessible by students and faculty. These stacks are located on the north side of the library and organized by the Dewey Decimal System.
Compact Storage Shelving: These stacks are also known as our closed stacks and are not accessible to students. If you need an item from compact storage stop by the circulation desk and we'll grab it for you.
New Books: These items are located on a table and shelves right inside the library doors. These shelves are fully accessible to students and faculty, and almost all items can be checked out. Any reference items in New Books are library use only.
Media: These items are located right next the bound journal shelves directly across from the circulation desk. These shelves can be accessed by students and faculty and all items are circulating.
Periodicals: Current periodicals are located in the northwest corner of the library right next to the Preaching Collection. These shelves can be accessed by all but items are non-circulating. Bound periodicals are located directly across from the circulation desk. These shelves are fully accessible and items can be checked out.
Reference: These books are located in the long brown bookshelves that separate the study tables and current periodical shelves from the main stacks, and against the back wall by the Reserves books. These stacks are accessible to all students and faculty, but are non-circulating and can only be used within the library. Included in the Reference shelves is the new Writing and Research Collection. Items in this collection are accessible by all. Items with a dark purple label are non-circulating while items with a light lavender label can be checked out.
Reserves: These shelves are located by the study tables and reference shelves and are fully accessible to students and faculty. Reserves items are either non-circulating or 7-day loan. All items that can be checked out will have a 7-day loan sticker on the cover. Non-circulating items can usually only be used within the library. If you would like to check out a non-circulating reserves item please check with our Reserves Librarian, Avery Welden.
Preaching Collection: These shelves are located against the west wall of the library by the reference shelves and study tables, and fully accessible to students and faculty. All items in the preaching collection are circulating.
Discipliana Collection: These shelves are located in a small room just past the reference shelves and main stacks. These stacks can be accessed by students and faculty and can be checked out.
Merrick Collection: These shelves are located in a small room just past the Discipliana collection and partially accessible to students. The items on the bookshelves are accessible to students and circulating but the journals and ephemera are not accessible and non-circulating. Please email our archivist, Hannah Johnson, at email@example.com in order to use the Merrick archives.
Rare Book Room: The books in this collection are stored in closed stacks and not accessible to students or faculty. If you would like to view an item from our rare book room or archives please email our archivist, Hannah Johnson, at firstname.lastname@example.org to set up an appointment.
